Class 9J- Making of an icosahedron activity

Today, the students of class 9J,created 3D model of an icosahedron using paper cups. There were total 25 students. They were divided into group of 5 students each. Each group brought 140 paper cups and staplers (along with lots of pins). Firstly, each group was supposed to make 20 flower like pattern. For making one flower pattern, it was required to put one cup in the centre surrounded by 6 more cups. All the groups started working together with enthusiasm. Then, I asked them to send one student from each group to me, for the explanation of the second step, which was to make 2 hats using 5 flower patterns. The group leaders joined their groups and accepted this task as a challenge. Finally, I demonstrated the last step to all of them together, which was to make a zig zag chain using 10 flower patterns. Hmmm, this was the most exciting one. All the students worked together in their group and managed to make the model.

Basic Paper folding activities- Class 8

In class 8E we did the following basic paper folding activities:

1. Getting a line segment : Take a rectangular sheet of paper. Fold the paper in anyway. Unfold, observe the crease. On the crease draw a line segment AB = 4cm.

2. Getting the mid point of a line segment

Mid point: A point on the line segment which divides the line segment into two equal parts.

Hint: Get a line segment AB by folding a paper in anyway and drawing AB on the crease. Fold the paper in such a way that point A falls on the point B completely.

3. Getting a perpendicular bisector

Hint: Extend the crease of mid point by pressing the paper.

4. Getting an angle bisector
